All play and no work makes Rusty and Kim dull.

It being Spring Break and us being essentially too broke to really go anywhere, but not so broke we can't buy stuff still, decided to update the dining room. Here is the obligatory before picture. The house was built in 75 or 79, and this is , i kid you not, the original paint job. this ugly beige is throughout the whole house. the people who had the house before us bought it new and NEVER PAINTED A SINGLE ROOM IN OVER 20 YEARS! When i took the switchplates off there was bare drywall under them. unbelievable. Hey Doug, does that picture on the wall look familiar? We decided to do a two tone with a chair rail running around the room. On the paint cards the top color didn't look so beige, but it really is. It's a bit darker than what we had, but at least it's clean and fresh. sort of like Bryce's little tushie. No air compressor and nail gun for us. We like good old sweat equity! Plus we can't afford an air compressor and a nail gun. Them's for fa...

Look at the post below the one below this first. Damnit, Jim, I'm a doctor, not a physicist!

Hey, Hey, Hey, It's Colonial wood! Stacked no doubt in a colonial fashion. More horsies. They so cute! It's a windmill. It was under repair, so we couldn't see what was going on inside, but we did see sheep sleeping in the shade. There's one now. Colonial sheep were stinky. We didn't buy him one, because he kept taking it off and throwing it in the air and yelling for revolution, but we did take a picture of him in it. too cute. much cuter than both the horses and the stinky colonial sheep.

Look at the post below before you look at this one. It's a time space continuum thing.

Here is the gate to the governors palace. It's colonial, doncha' know. We were going to go in, but there were like 8 other people waiting in line, so we thought we would come back when the line wasn't so long. when we came back there were about 50 people waiting, so we didn't see the inside of the governors palace. Kim and Bryce standing near a colonial bird condo. Apparently they raised them to eat. Squabs they called them. Yum. the white stuff on the ground is oyster shells. As it had just rained it wasn't that bad, but when the sun came out later and started warming them up, it was rank, let me tell you. Back in Henry's house. Dig the colonial green walls. Only the men would hang out in this room. Apparently the women had better taste. It was colonial taste. Wow. That's blue. It apparently was an actual pattern that was for sale back in colonial days. Yup, you guessed it, a colonial wagon with colonial horses. Is it getting old yet?

It's Educational!

As you will read in the next post, previous post really, but chronologically the earlier post, Austyn had a competition in Williamsburg on the campus of William and Mary, alma mater of such luminaries as Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe and William Tyler, as well as 16 other signers of the Declaration of Independence. Washington got his surveyer's certificate there. See kids, you can have fun and learn something new! While Austyn was stuck inside the auditorium between performance (9:30) and awards(3:00), Bryce, Kim and I went off to visit Colonial Williamsburg. Above is a colonial street with colonial houses. I believe the architectural style would be considered colonial. Here's an old colonial dude closing an old colonial door. This was in Henry Wythe's house, actually the waiting room. Ole' Henry was the first Virginian to sign the Declaration Of Independence. George Washington stayed here for a while during the War. He may have warmed himself by this very fire...

Yummpin Yimminy

Austyn's back doing her cheerleading. They took a break from competition but not practicing for a few weeks. We had a competition in Williamsburg, VA at the beginning of our spring break. She is doing her back handspring in the routine now, which makes her nervous but excited at the same time. she's afraid she's going to spring into someone behind her. We are obviously very proud of her. I wish i could do that. This video is from practice. She does it right at the beginning. She's in the back row, kinda center of the screen. We haven't gotten a small video of her that has her back handspring from the actual competition, where they are all dressed up, but we are working on it. There we go. For some reason it wouldn't let me type under her video, but now i can, so i am going to, even though i really have nothing to say. One of my favorite words is trail. I see that word and it makes me very happy. Hike is another good one. If i catch a glimpse of ei...

I like to eat, eat, eat, apples and bernanners, but mostly bernanners.

man, I sure do like these banannas. the skin doesn't taste all that good though.I also like to feed myself. that's the most fun part really. I gots toofers. they help me bite things. biting is good. you can bite bernanners, you can bite the cat's tail, you can bite daddy's knees, you can bite sis's hair while you pull it.

Spring has sprung! Well, Kinda...

Hey, Mom and Dad! Look, the sun is actually out in Maryland during the winter! Lets go out and weed the back yard! This is Spring? Why is everything brown? For that matter, why is my excersaucer out here? I need some leg warmers.... Awwwww, isn't that cute. The boys with their matching hats. this was actually a few days later when it actually got warm and sunny at the same time. That's it for now, because there are other pictures to add, but you already saw them because you started at the top of the page and just now got to this part.

Who needs toys...

OK peoples, stop sending me toys. All I need is common, everyday household items and I happy as little clam. Little clams fairly happy i told. All they do is sit in the sand and filter little gross things through the muck. Sounds good to me. Wonder if little clams have laundry baskets? Anyway, for first birthday i would like clothespins and extension cords. Maybe a magazine or two, and some tupperware. Doesn't even need to be brand name tupperware. you can get the cheapy Glad ones and I ecstatic.

As long as we are showing off new skills...

Hello, this is Bryce. I also have bold new skills that have been captured on film. I climb. I very stealthy when I climb. Sometimes mommy and daddy don't even know until i on third or fourth step. I like ninja. Only mommy keep dressing me like baseball player. Whatever that is. I climb to top of stairs and go into sis's room and chew on her bed. Cold bars feel very good on my little teefs. It makes a clanky sound. Don't tell anyone, but damn, my daddy gots a big ass. It practically take up whole screen.

Flippin out!

OK, it's not really a flip, but Austyn has learned her roundoff back handspring on the tumble track, which is a long skinny trampoline, and she is really proud of it, as are her parents and little brother. Here it is. Pretty cool, eh?

Random slices of life at the Waldron House.

Bryce loves to read books before bed. That is silly book, Mommy. A daisy chain of hairstyling. Daddy sat out of this one, cause he gots no hair to style. Here's me standing on some rocks with Bryce in a backpack. See, Kim came with us to Sugarloaf. She looks cold. It wasn't all that cold. Could it be she is sad because no one in her family (Her biological family that is) or her friends called her on her birthday? It's possible. She was raised catholic, so she's teaching me to pour on the guilt. Will it work? We'll see.

Baby's second or maybe third hike.

Image
We got tired of sitting in the house on such a nice day, so we drove to Sugarloaf Mountain (technically a monadnock, but i digress) and went for a nice, quick hike. Here is Daddy and Me with our new (slightly used) Kelty Elite. Our friend Emmet has one, and it looked so much more comfortable than the cheap-o one that Daddy had that we figured we had to get one ourselves. Daddy says it carries the weight on his hips much better than the old one. Whatever that means. Then they went and put these stupid leg warmers on me. They did keep my legs nice and warm though. Where did they get those things from anyway? Who in their right mind wears leg warmers? Must be some weird west coast hippie thing. That's what you get from eating too much tofu. This is a view from one of the overlooks that is either Virginia, or West Virginia, we're not quite sure. Sure is pretty though. That's the summit of Sugarloaf. Daddy didn't think his knees could handle the trail straight up ...

Fun with Daddy

Bryce likes to scream now. Here he is yelling with Daddy. Rusty and Daddy's Boy.

Austyn's Cheer Competition

Image
So Austyn is a competitive cheerleader. Which means no football or basketball games, but a lot of stunting and time at places very far from home. Austyn seems to love it and will probably continue next year. Her team is called Dream Allstars and her squad is known as Vision. Austyn is in this sea of girls. Last row second from the right. Sometimes its hard to tell its her she looks so different with the "stage make-up" and fake hair. Yes she has to cover up her gorgeous hair with a fake hair piece. It has to be sewn into her hair. The only plus is that we don't have to curl her hair which used to take up to 2 hours to do. Here she is after competing looking very happy. Her squad got second at this comptetion. This is very early on Saturday before the make-up application. Remeber girls "you can never wear enough blue eye shadow". I only wish this wasn't the actual mantra in cheerleading makeup application. Austyn showing off her flexibility in a po...

Stalking the elusive Luke

Bryce stalks the elusive "felinus suburbius" in it's natural habitat. Fortunately for the "lukus superiorius" as this particular felinus is known, the mighty hunter is easily distracted by shiny things that make neat sounds.

Bryce combat crawl

Hopefully this will work

Bryce's first solid food

Bryce really enjoyed his first solid food. Here he is checking out and eating a Zwiebeck Cracker. He became quite messy.
