Halloween Spooktacular

Image
Every Halloween the local community center has a Spooktacular for the little ones. I think it was just last year that Austyn actually went for the last time. Now she and her BFF Allison are working at it and getting community service credits. My Baby is growing up! Here they are manning the coffin roll dressed as Goth Zebras or Emo Wildebeasts or something like that. They're too happy to be Goth Zeebas. Bryce was a bit overwhelmed by everything, but they have lots of games with balls and that removed all inhibitions. Yes, Bryce is dressed as a little stinker. He's all about Pumpkins this year. So of course he liked this one where you had to throw the balls through the nose or eyes. Dig the tail. You wouldn't think he was having a good time, but the wheels were turning big time. It was a whole lot to process all at one time. It was dark, loud, lots of sounds and sights. His little hampsters were working overtime. I don't know about this place Daddy. First is 1

Halloween has exploded all over our family room.

Kaboom. Bryce was amazed by the sheer amount of pumpkins, skeletons and ghosts that came blasting out of the tupperware containers. We're not sure how he's going to handle the actual trick or treating. He sure liked going through all the stuff. Look Daddy, is soap dispenser in shape of Bat. Where you get all this crap? Better not be coming out of my college fund.

I'll wake up for the ride home.

So, after stuffing onto the train (see previous post) in the City, once we got further into the suburbs the seats started thinning out and we got to have our own seats. Bryce was very casual, though he was still a bit in awe. Daddy, who all these people? Why they sitting in our car? And what up with lack of seatbelts. Definite safety hazzard. That Door over there keeps opening and closing and people keep getting on and off. When will it be our turn? Maybe I feel motion sick and want to barf in your lap.

Trip to DC with the fam

Image
Mom and Dad Waldron came to play last weekend, and it was such a nice day we decided to head into DC to see a museum or two. Bryce was fairly impressed with the Subway system. He was quite impressed with all the gravel on the Mall. America's front lawn needs some work. these gates were blocking off a small section that they were trying to shore up with some turf. Good luck. Of course, mere gates were not able to hold back the mighty force that is Bryce. He liked the nice green grass in the cage. He also liked the steps outside the Museum of Natural History. Lots of climbing up and bumping down on our butt. Nice smooth granite steps worn smooth by years of tourists. Step back people! This bunch of bones is millions of years old, and It's all MINE!!!! Museum too much for me. I sleep.

Boy and Girl

Image
You see Sis, He wears his brother's red hat because his brother had red hair. He caught the other children and saved them. He was catcher in Rye. Now on this page, Dante descends to the 7th level of Hell, which is reserved for Bankers and CEO's from Wall Street who have cheated people out of life savings. See, those are the flames of damnation licking their souls right there. Why should we call him Ishmael? Quequeg has a bigger part in the story and better name. What Ahab got against White Whale? I saw Blue Whale at Museum. It was big. I wouldn't mess with it. Ahab gonna get his, you betcha. Oh Mommy, though I would love to be a blonde, I don't think this is how you do it. Debbie Harry, Eat your heart out. It's not easy being this beautiful.

Could it be? Austyn in a post? Let's see...

Image
Hey, Momma, while you stick me in a pile of mutant squash, you know where sis is? I don't see her... (though savy viewers may if they look closely)(hint: she brought a friend with her) Yep, there they are. We had Yom Kippur off from school, so we decided to go to the Pumpkin farm (to attone for our sins?). Here Austyn and Sophia pose next to the Blair Witch horse. Even better than a fleeting shot in the background of a cute shot of the boy, here we have a cute shot of the two of them. What's with the biddies in the background. Can't they see we're having a private family moment? with pumpkins? Geez, the nerve of some people. No day is complete without Bryce finding a stick of some sort. Here he attempts to hit Daddy with a corn stalk.

Pumpkin Farm!

Image
Bryce was very suspicious of the huge pumpkin. Some would say rightly so. I like this one Daddy. Even though it probably weighs more than I do. How I get surrounded by all these pumpkins? Mommy, didn't you see the sign that said not to climb on the pumpkins? I do look very cute here though. I must wax poetic about my love for the humble pumpkin. Oh pumpkin, how do I love thee? Let's count the ways....... Here, I find one just my size. Now get me out of these squashes!!!!

Harvest Farm Festival

Image
No Daddy, You the man.... Several saturday's ago, we saddled up the old tractor and took a spin over to the Harvest Farm Festival at an historic farm in good old Montgomery County. It was really quite fun. We took Bryce last year as well, but it was hot as balls that time, plus he couldn't really even hold his head up then. how things have changed. Austyn was at the Beach with her mom and a friend, so no pics with sis. The last few times we have had Bryce's hair cut we had Miss Tammy, one of my old assistants at work, cut it for us. She does a great job, but we weren't able to make an appointment with her last week. So we couldn't take the mullet any longer, and decided, Hey, Cartoon Cuts cut children's hair, they would probably do a good job. Lets just say that we won't be going back to Cartoon Cuts again. Ever. Though it is amazing what a bit of hairgel will do. Instant fauxhawk. Beats about 12 cowlicks. Hmmm, Daddy, I smell an educational trip.

What the cat sees.

Image
Yup, I'm just a cat sitting here on the steps to the basement trying to keep away from that new little pink thing that Mommy and Daddy brought home over a year ago. HUH? What's that? Oh NO! It's figured out how to use my door! It's all over now. I may as well just live out of my literbox....

It's a bit long, but it's cute. Yes, Jennifer, i need to get editing software.

Dig the fine motor skills, y'all!

Das Best Oktoberfest Ever (not really)

Image
So Momma gets the idea to go to Das Best OktoberFest Ever even though techically it was still September. Sounds good, so we go. Try some good beers, eat some good German Foods. The Boy approves of the pretzels and Potato Pancakes. What's an Oktoberfest without OOmpa bands? And Slutty German girls? there were tons of girls dressed up like this. Apparently the slutty German chick is a popular Halloween costume and the ladies like to get more than one night out of it, if you know what i mean, nudge nudge, wink wink, say no more.... Of course, for Bryce the highlight was digging in the mud and gravel and throwing it about. Took us a week to get the mud out of his nails. He had fun though, as did Mom and Dad. Highlight for Dad was the Ommegang Hennepin. For Mom was the very purple German wine.
